Welsh Government social care announcements
The Welsh Government has published a White Paper ‘Rebalancing care and support’ which makes proposals to introduce new legislation to improve social care arrangements and strengthen partnership working in Wales. The paper includes a consultation that closes on the 6 April 2021 click here. Make of it what you will!
An altogether more refreshing (jargon free) announcement concerns the Welsh Government’s response to its review of the operation of the Coronavirus Act 2020. The announcement notes that:
a majority of responses were in favour of suspending the social care provisions of the 2020 Act and has asked officials to prepare the necessary legislation to suspend the modifications to the Social Services and Well-being Wales Act 2014. The Deputy Minister has asked that this work is progressed as soon as reasonably possible with the clear expectation that the regulations suspending the modifications will be laid in the first quarter of 2021.
